However, given the number ofdifferent styles of yoga, it&#8217;s very difficult for future practitioners to know exactly where to begin or which type is most appropriate for them.<span id="more-13"></span>There are quite a few &#8220;types&#8221; of yoga. A traditional physical and mental discipline originating in India, yogahas been practiced for centuries, and is a sequence of postures and positions, synchronized with your breathing, designed to elevate mind, body and soul. In other words, as you progress through the various levels, the result will be a more developed,focused mind, enhanced fitness and, if you are a spiritual person, a stronger connection with the universe! However, given the number ofdifferent styles of yoga, it&#8217;s very difficult for future practitioners to know exactly where to begin or which type is most appropriate for them.</p>
<p>Major Types of Yoga</p>
<p>Whilethere are about 10 main types, they really only differ with respect to their individual focus of the styles versus the poses or postures:</p>
<p>Hatha (Ananda): Arguably the beststyle for beginners, this style is characterized by a slower pace, personal affirmations, and self-control.<br />
Power Yoga (Ashtanga): This is a more advanced, faster pace of yoga, as the name &#8220;Power Yoga&#8221; suggests.<br />
Anusara: This is a &#8220;heart-oriented&#8221; style that makes good use of the &#8220;tools of yoga&#8221;. These classes are somewhat advanced but still accessible by all skill levels.<br />
Iyengar: This is one of the types of yoga that require much more stamina. It is characterized by a great attention to detail and a focuson bodily alignment. Stamina is a mustfor this style, as poses are often held for an extended amount of time&#8230;not the smartest place for you to start your yoga practice.<br />
Integral: Another great style for beginners to start with. This style tries to balance attention to meditation, poses and breathing. Integral is a more general style like Hatha that will allow you to &#8220;taste test&#8221; the areas of concentration of the other styles.<br />
Bikram (Hot Yoga): This is the hottest of the types of yoga! It&#8217;s called Hot Yoga because it&#8217;s performed in a room temperature of around 100 degree! This allows cleansing sweat to flow and muscles to relax. Beginners should not start with this one.<br />
Kundalini: Uses breath control and breathe/movement coordination to expellbad energy. Beginners welcome.<br />
Kripalu: A perfect style of yoga for beginners. This style focuses on breathing and moving at your own individual pace.<br />
Sivananda: One of the largest schools of yoga, this style take a more holistic approach, including diet, relaxation and thinking. For those of you looking forguidance in areas beyond just fitness, this is one of the besttypes of yoga.<br />
Svaroopa: No fat burning here. This style is more about raising your consciousness. This is appropriate for beginners, but not if your focus is better fitness.</p>
<p>This is not supposed to be a definitive list, but it should be a good place for you to begin as you pursue the highly beneficial practice of yoga!</p>

One of the rules I got from Dr. Nicholas Gonzales was to stay with one treatment protocol and doctor for a specific amount of time and be careful of jumping from one doctor to the next.</p>
<p>When it comes to cancer you can get panicked if you think something isn’t working instead of drawing no conclusions. If you are going to do an alternative protocol or even a conventional one, set a certain goal as to how long you are going to give it and what you except to achieve. For instance, &#8220;I will give this herbal protocol 6 weeks and I want to see at least a fifty percent reduction of the tumor.&#8221; Then when that goal is met you set a new one and if it’s not met-then you re-evaluate and explore other options.</p>
<p>In my healing journey this was the exact approach I created. I decided to give the herbal program 3 months with Donnie Yance. As long as I didn’t see any dramatic change for the worse. Of course, in certain protocols this can happen-things gets worse before they get better-but they are usually short-lived. I questioned Donnie very candidly about his belief that he could cure my cancer-he felt he could. I have seen clients with seriousness illnesses jump from one protocol to the other and this really doesn’t serve you.</p>
<p>But when it comes to a life threatening illness you, of course, get scared-you don’t want to die, you don’t want to be in more pain so you get caught up in your fears. And sometimes those fears can be sparked or fueled by people who are close to you, who might not believe totally in</p>
<p>what you are doing, who are naturally scared of losing you. Take this as an oprtunitity to work on your boundaries with friends and family and examine if you are really communicating your needs to them without making them wrong. When you decide to undertake a protocol, do it 100%! Alternative protocols in general have certain diet requirements-follow them as best you can to the letter.</p>
<p>In retrospect, despite my diligence around diet, I think I could have done better. I could have ratcheted it up another notch. Like going on all juice and raw food diet. But there are many different approaches to diet. I would strongly suggest finding an alternative doctor that has specific ideas about diet and specific written diet plans they want you to follow. If they don’t you might question their thoroughness. And also, a note on diet, even if you buy organic food, I would go the extra step and clean it with hydrogen peroxide or Clorox.</p>
<p>Organic food can become contamaintated on its way to market. You will find more about this cleaning protocol in the book, Living Better Longer, about the work of Dr. Hazel Parcels. In conclusion, stay with one doctor for a set amount of time, set goals and when they are met or not met, then re-evaluate. Don’t get caught up in the conversation of how you are doing. Written goals can support this not happening. Of course, if the cancer takes a dramatic wrong turn, then that’s time to re-evaluate. Stay objective but always in your intuition. And learn to know when it’s your intuition and not your fears.</p>
<p>This is part of the healing. Every small or large challenge emotionally is another chance to heal. How you are going about healing is a healing in of itself.</p>

The Leksell Gamma Knife form of radiotherapy has been known to work with as little as one treatment. Using stereotactic radiotherapy, a popular method which uses a three dimensional coordinate system to focus the gamma radiation onto the targeted areas of the brain, doctors can essentially target extremely small affected areas of the brain, with very little risk to the remainder of the brain.
